Brazilian Ex-President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will stand trial for a possible attempt to obstruct investigation into the case of corruption schemes over oil Petrobras corporation, New York Times reported.

The politician, who served as president from 2003 to 2011, is accused of taking bribes from big construction companies and money laundering. It is about the conclusion of multi-billion dollar contracts of the largest enterprise in the country, such as the construction of drilling platforms.

The charges in the case were brought against Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and six other suspects, including former Senator Delcidio do Amaral. Representatives of the ex-president claim that accusations are groundless.
