MOSCOW. - The recent hostage-taking in Armenia was an unacceptable attempt to resolve the political issues by illegitimate actions, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the meeting with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan in Moscow on Wednesday.

In the morning of July 17, a group of armed persons stormed Yerevan’s Erebuni police station and took hostage several police officers. A policeman, deputy commander of the same regiment, was killed.  Another four policemen – Police Colonel Aram Hovhannisyan, Lieutenant Colonel Hrach Khostegyan, operator Robert Hayrapetyan, as well as one of the armed group members Tatul Tamrazyan were injured.  On July 30, policeman Yura Tepanosyan was killed. On July 31, the members of Sasna Tsrer armed group decided to lay down their arms.
