MOSCOW. - Yerevan will only benefit from the activation of Moscow’s role in the region, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said at the meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

In Sargsyan’s words, Armenia closely watched the foreign political communications of Russia during the last week. “I again thank the Russian President for the efforts which Russia exerts as an OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair, and his great personal contribution to this peace process,” Sargsyan said after the meeting.

He also expressed conviction that the Karabakh conflict cannot be solved through only liquidating its consequences and not referring to the reasons. “The peaceful process of the talks related to such a delicate topic, is never simple,” the Armenian President said.

Serzh Sargsyan also noted that he is for finding a solution based on mutual respect and trust, and not hatred and xenophobia, RIA Novosti reports.
