YEREVAN. - Currently there is no document on Karabakh conflict which would include the issue of surrendering the territories.

Former Armenian Deputy FM Arman Navasardyan told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am, commenting on the results of the meeting between the Armenian and Russian presidents in Moscow and the statements made on the Karabakh conflict settlement.

In his words, from the very beginning the information on territory concession by the Armenian side was a bluff.  “[It was a] Bluff, since there is no such issue currently. Perhaps such an option had been discussed during the working meetings, but the final result is what is important in diplomacy. There is no such issue today. I think currently time-out has been taken in these issues,” Navasardyan noted.

Compromise is out of the question, he stressed. “What Putin said (on that there will be no winners and losers) are only beautiful words. I think this is more of a propaganda side of the issue than a specific situation, since the positions of the sides are directly opposite. Baku doesn’t agree even on mutual concessions,” Navasardyan said.

The Azerbaijani side insists on handing over the territories and on Karabakh being part of Azerbaijan, he added. “The Armenian side doesn’t agree on this. If the issue of the territories is raised, then what about the territories of Shahumyan and Matrakert? And God forbid if the sides don’t reach an agreement on this: this may result in new military actions, which isn’t beneficial to any of the large players,” Navasardyan noted.

Specifically, ruling out military clash in the region is a very important issue for Russia, considering the current domestic situation in the country itself. “And Putin’s dramatic engagement in the Caucasian diplomatic actions comes to prove this very fact,” Navasardyan concluded.
