The World Choir Games 2016, formerly named the Choir Olympics, were held in Sochi, Russia, and Armenia’s Paros Chamber Choir won two silver medals at the event.

This year, 35 countries were represented in the competition, and the total number of participants exceeded 20 thousand.

Paros was Armenia’s sole representatives at this year’s World Choir Games.

Being an inclusive choir, as most of its members are singers with disabilities, Paros was unique among the choirs from all participating countries.

The World Choir Games have two categories of participation: Open Contest, in which any choir can take part; and the Champions’ Contest, in which solely the laureates of international competitions can participate.

Paros Chamber Choir won two silver medals in the Champions’ Contest, in the “Spiritual Music A Capella” and “Mixed Chamber Choirs” categories.

The choir from Armenia also gave a concert in Sochi.
