At present, Azerbaijan’s aspiration for starting a somewhat overt armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh has reduced, as compared to the past.

Russian Federal Assembly Federation Council deputy, Russian-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission member Igor Chernyshenko, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, the likelihood of resumption of hostilities in the Karabakh conflict zoned is currently less than it was two to three months ago.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent successes in the meetings with Armenia and Azerbaijan Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev considerably reduce the chance of an armed conflict in Karabakh,” stated Chernyshenko.

The MP added that Russia clearly supports the important role which Armenia has in Transcaucasia.
