Dozens of cathedrals and other cultural facilities have been damaged as a result of the Italian earthquake, the republic’s Culture Minister Dario Franceschini told Ansa news agency.

In the town of Amatrice, which has suffered most of all, San Francesco and Santo-Agostinho basilicas, San Giovanni, Santa Agnese, Santa Maria del Suffragio, San Giuseppe and Sant Emidio churches, as well as the Cathedral of Crucifixion have collapsed. Rome and Ascoli gates, the civil tower, the library and the museum have been seriously damaged. The Arc of San Francisco has been destroyed.

The walls of churches and other building were also damaged in the cities of Urbino, Arquata del Tronto, Ascoli, Montegallo, Montemonaco, Tolentino and San Ginesio.
