YEREVAN. – The Court of Appeal of Armenia on Friday ruled that Garik Arustamyan, who was arrested along the lines of the case into the unrest that occurred between the late evening hours on July 29 and early morning hours on July 30 in Sari Tagh district of capital city Yerevan, be released.

Arustamyan’s attorney, Zorayr Harutyunyan, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the appellate court overturned the first instance court decision on his client’s arrest.

According to the relatives of Garik, who lives in Nizami village of Ararat Province, he had gone to Sari Tagh on that day to bring her sister home. But he had found himself in the middle of the clashes there.

Criminal charges were brought against Garik Arustamyan, and which are punishable by imprisonment between 3 to 8 years.
