Qatar's government will introduce tax on passengers leaving Qatar from Doha's Hamad International Airport, Arabian Business reported.

Every passenger, including transit passengers, will be charged 35 riyals ($9.61) for using airport facilities. According to the instructions to the local tour operators, the tax comes into force on Tuesday and will be applied to tickets issued after Aug. 30 and for any travel starting Dec. 1 onwards.

Unlike the majority of the countries, Gulf states, had no taxes for use of the airports until recently. Earlier this year, the UAE government stated about introduction of a similar tax at all airports in the country.

First in 15 years, the state budget of Qatar can be consolidated with deficiency because of prolonged decrease in the world oil prices. According to government estimates, the size of the deficit will exceed $10 billion.
