Azerbaijan is considering the possibility of transit of Iranian gas via its territory to Europe, Deputy Energy Minister Natig Abbasov said at the  Eurasian conference of  International Association for Energy Economics.

According to the deputy minister, this will be possible by connecting Iran to Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP). Abbasov also did not exclude the possibility of transportation of Iraqi gas to Europe via Azerbaijan, Trend reported.

TANAP provides transportation of gas from the Azerbaijani field “Shah Deniz” from the Georgian-Turkish border to the western border of Turkey. Gas will get to Turkey in 2018 and after completion of construction of the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) will reach Europe approximately at the beginning of 2020.
