Bankrupt Armenian businessman Aram Petrosyan, who had taken hostages in a Moscow bank, has ended his hunger strike, his attorney, Stanislav Maltsev, told RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.

“Doctors advised him to end the hunger strike,” he said. “And we, as lawyers, advised him not to risk his health.”

The attorney explained that, after the issuance of the court decision on his arrest, Petrosyan had felt ill, and therefore an ambulance was called to the court.

Maltsev also noted that no investigation is carried out, at present, against his client.

“This week, his testimony will be examined at the scene,” added the attorney. “That is, at the bank branch.”

In the evening on August 24, bankrupt Armenian businessman Aram Petrosyan took four people hostage in a Citibank branch in downtown Moscow, and threatened to blow up this branch.

Later, however, he released the hostages and surrendered to Russian law enforcement.

In addition, it was found out that the object, which he said was a bomb, was fake.

During his interrogation, Aram Petrosyan said with this action, he simply wanted to draw attention to his bankruptcy.
