After the French State Council had cancelled the ban on wearing  Muslim woman’s swimwear, the Cannes allowed wearing burkini  on the urban beaches, reports the DW. As the source reports, the decision of the mayor, which should have entered into force by September, was canceled before the deadline.

Cannes mayor David Lisnar says that he is not going to appeal the decision of the State Council. However, he notes that the issue is not solved – the state authorities should ban  burkini in the whole  country or  allow the municipal authorities to make their own decisions on that issue.

On August 26, France’s Council of State (the highest court of the country) suspended the ban on Muslim women's swimwear. The ban on burkini was set in 15 cities of France, including Nice and Cannes. Many women are penalized, after the ban had been set. The amount of the fine in Cannes made 38 euros.
