YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Wednesday received a delegation led by Seishiro Eto, President of the Japan-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship League.

Welcoming the first visit of the delegation to Armenia, the President of Armenia underscored that Japan holds a special role in Armenia’s relations with the countries of East Asia, and it strives to develop multifaceted and mutually beneficial cooperation with friendly Japan, the Presidential Press Office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. Serzh Sargsyan expressed the hope that the visit of this will give new impetus to the development of parliamentary relations between Armenia and Japan and elevate the respective Armenian-Japanese cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

At the ensuing talk, the parties noted with satisfaction that President Sargsyan’s official visit to Japan in 2012 has opened new opportunities for the expansion and deepening of bilateral cooperation.

Eto, for his part, stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in the state relations, and expressed readiness to do his utmost to invigorate the ties between members of the two Parliaments and promote the strengthening of Armenian-Japanese parliamentary relations and to translate them into a solid base for the development of the economic relations between the two countries.

The parties discussed opportunities and potential for developing mutually beneficial partnership in a variety of domains and within international organizations.
