Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed an agreement to mend relations with Israel.

As Turkish newspaper Milliyet noted, according to the agreement the Israeli side is obliged to transfer $20 million to special account opened by Turkey. This amount will be transferred to the families of Turkish citizens killed during the capture of the Mavi Marmara vessel in 2010.

In the near future, it is planned to appoint the Turkish ambassador to Israel. 

At the end of May, 2010 several ships of a so-called Freedom Flotilla, which included Turkish ships went to break the blockade of the Gaza Strip. One of the ships refused to comply with the request of the Israeli authorities to change the route of the movement and then was stormed by fighters of the Israeli special troops. As a result of this attack nine citizens of Turkey were killed. Ankara that Israel shoyld apologize for the attack, to pay compensations to families of the dead and also to lift the blockade of the Gaza Strip. As a diplomatic measure Turkey has recalled the ambassador from Israel.
