Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel has promised to help Italy in restoring the regions which suffered as a result of the earthquake.  “We are going to finance the restoration of one of the schools,” Merkel stated by the end of the talks with the Italian PM Matteo Renzi in the town of Maranello, DW reports.

She also stressed that not only the German government, but also the German economy and German Football Association will make their contribution to supporting Italy.

For his part, PM Renzi thanked Angela Merkel and Germany for their sympathy and solidarity in connection with the destructive quake, which claimed the lives of nearly 300 people. At the same time, Matteo Renzi commented on the situation regarding the illegal migration in Europe.  According to him, Germany and Italy should continue cooperating in this area so that migrants are placed across Europe proportionally and rightfully.

The Italian PM also noted that the perception that Europe should accept every migrant is implausible.
