The President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov passed away at the age of 79, announces the press release issued by the Uzbekgovernment and parliament. According to the RIA Novosti, the funerals of Karimov be held on September 3 in Samarkand. The government has announced 3  days of mourning in the country. 

The information about the health condition of Uzbekistan's president was published on Sunday. The government reported that Karimov was in hospital. Later, the daughter of the President clarified that Islam Karimov had a stroke and was moved to reanimation.

Karimov headed Uzbekistan since 1990. Earlier, he was the Uzbek SSR Minister of Finance.
