French President Francois Hollande, spoke out against the ban on wearing hijab and burkini, RIA Novosti reported.

While delivering a keynote speech on "Democracy in the Face of Terrorism” Hollande said that the ban on Muslim clothing was inacceptable and unconstitutional. At the same time he considered that Islam can lead France to secularism.

Earlier, Hollande took a reserved position on this issue.

The ban on wearing burkini(a type of swimsuit for women covering the whole body) has been imposed in the cities of Nice, Menton, Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Sisco, Le Touquet, Leucate, Oye-Plage, Villeneuve-Loubet, Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Mandelieu-la-Napoule. Several women who disobeyed the ban have been already ordered to pay a fine.
