Apple closed down few units of the Titan project, which is focused on development of the self-driving car, and  dismissed dozens of employees associated with it, The New York Times reported.

Many companies are working on creation of technologies for self-driving cars, in particular, Google, Uber, Tesla, as well as car makers Ford, General Motors and others. However, Apple kept all the achievements in this field in secret. Not so long ago Apple invited one of its  veterans Bob Mansfield to work on the Titan project.

Sources reported that large-scale job cuts in the company are connected with change of focus in the Titan project, however, no additional details are disclosed. It is known, however, that with Mansfield's arrival, Apple decided to be engaged in creation of unmanned technologies, not cars only.
