The condition of the former Israeli President Shimon Peres continues to remain critical. He is sedated and connected to a respirator, Cursor reports, citing Israeli media outlets.

On Tuesday evening Peres, 93, was rushed to hospital. According to the preliminary information, he has suffered a stroke. Citing the statement of the ex-president's office, the Israeli TV channels informed that Shimon Peres' condition was stable and he was conscious.   

The hospital representatives stressed that the diagnosis will be ascertained after conducting necessary examinations, on the basis of which relevant treatment will be chosen for the former Israeli leader.

President Benjamin Netanyahu made a special statement, wishing speedy recovery to Peres.
