The festivities to be held in the city of Gyumri on occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Independence of Armenia have been cancelled in connection with the death of the son of mayor candidate from Prosperous Armenia Party, Vardan Grigoryan.
The festivities were to be held at the Theatre Square of Gyumri.
The tragedy took place on Tuesday. Grigoryan’s son, Arshak, was found in the house basement with a gunshot wound in his head.
The first City Council elections will take place in Gyumri on October 2. The winning political force will appoint the city mayor.
