Tehran and Ankara can play a leading role in the fight against terrorism in the region , particularly in Syria and Iraq, said the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani during the meeting with the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan  , within the framework of the UN General Assembly summit, reports the Irna.

As the Iranian president said,  Iran 'will always stand by its friendly and brotherly country of Turkey,' and is ready to develop relationship with Turkey in all the fields , particularly in the sphere of energy, transportation and industry.  Rouhani emphasized that the private sectors of both countries are in need of a larger development of bilateral cooperation. Referring to Turkey 's coup attempt on July 15 , Rouhani said that Iran is deeply saddened by that event.
