A Turkish court has ruled that Professor Mehmet Altan, who recently was detained on charges of assisting the Gülen movement and the failed coup attempt in Turkey, be arrested.   

Ahmet and Mehmet Altan brothers were questioned in court for five hours, reported Cumhuriyet daily of Turkey.

During the questioning, journalist Ahmet Altan noted that he had fought against coups all his life, and therefore he could not have assisted in one, this time.

The court decided to set Ahmet Altan free on signature bond, whereas to have Mehmet Altan arrested.

To note, Professor Mehmet Altan has called for the recognition of Armenian Genocide.
