YEREVAN. – National Assembly (NA) of Armenia President Galust Sahakyan on Thursday received vice speaker of the Israeli Knesset (parliament) Tali Ploskov, who also heads the Israel-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group at the Knesset.

Galust Sahakyan, welcoming the guest in the Armenian Parliament, thanked her for participating in the events of the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, the NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. Highlighting Ploskov’s visit to Armenia, he noted with satisfaction that similar visits promote the further development and deepening of bilateral relations.

The NA Speaker stated that the Armenians, a people that have suffered genocide, deeply respect the memory of the Jewish people that were subjected to holocaust.

“Armenia will continue its efforts for the recognition of Armenian Genocide,” said Sahakyan. We are confident that we can restore not only the historical justice, but possibly exclude the recurrence of such crimes.” In this context, the Parliament chairman noted that the Armenian people expect Israel’s weighty response as well as contribution to the international recognition of Armenian Genocide.

The NA Speaker also underscored that there is great potential for the development cooperation in a variety of domains.

Tali Ploskov, thanking for the warm reception, noted that the two states have historical commonalities. She also congratulated the Parliament Speaker on the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s independence.

Vice speaker of the Israeli Knesset also attached importance to further intensification of parliamentary ties, and expressed her readiness to assist in the implementation of several joint initiatives.

In addition, the interlocutors underscored the need to hold joint economic forums and increase the talks.
