At least three police officers were killed, one was seriously injured in a bomb blast in the province of Yala, Thailand, RIA Novosti reported quoting Voice TV.

The explosion occurred in the morning on September 23, near the Province of Yala Purong, one of three provinces bordering Malaysia where since 2004 the confrontation of the Thai security forces and Islamic militants continues.

The bomb exploded under the bottom of the patrol police car. The blast was so powerful that the police car has been thrown away, TV channel reported.

Three of the four police officers died at the scene, one got severe wounds and were hospitalized.

According to investigators, the bomb has been detonated remotely. The police considered that one of the separatist fighting groups acting in the south was responsible for the attack.
