YEREVAN. – The Acting Minister of Education and Science of Armenia, Levon Mkrtchyan, met with a visiting delegation from the World Bank (WB).

A WB education team is in capital city Yerevan these days, with a mission of assisting in the implementation of a cooperation program, the Ministry of Education and Science informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Mkrtchyan noted that collaboration with the World Bank in the education sector has recorded clearly measurable results. In his assessment, as a result of this cooperation, structural changes were made in the public education system of Armenia. 

The acting minister expressed the hope that the next tranche of the WB funding will be allocated to conducting reforms in the higher education system of the country.

WB education sector specialist Nino Kutateladze, for her part, underscored the smooth implementation of the substantive components of education. She stressed that, when developing their projects, they attach great importance to the needs of the domain being presented by those in charge of the given system.
