Opposition Islamist preacher Fethullah Gülen has stated about his readiness to return to Turkey if Washington approves Ankara’s request for his extradition.

Gülen said the aforementioned in an interview with German ZDF TV channel, Lenta reports.

“If the U.S. responds positively, I’ll go, no problem here,” he said, noting that in that case he will “be subjected to persecutions by the Turkish authorities and will come before God as a man, who has already made satisfaction for his sins.”

Gülen, who lives in U.S. and is accused by Ankara of organizing the coup attempt in the country, has urged to launch international investigation of the circumstances of the happening. “If the accusations are confirmed, I’ll do what they want. But they have not produced any specific evidence so far,” he noted.

The preacher also accused Ankara of using the uprising as a pretext for the persecutions of the Hizmet movement headed by him.  “This had been planned beforehand,” Gülen concluded.
