Turkmenistan joined to the Paris climate agreement. The document was signed by the Foreign Minister of the country within the framework of the 71st UN General Assembly summit.

The Paris climate agreement was accepted at the 21st Conference of the member countries of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. It is intended to pave the way towards low-carbon and ecologically sustainable future. It contains a promise to hold increase in global temperature at the level of 1.5 degrees Celsius.

The agreement will come into force on the thirtieth day after ratification by not less than 55 countries accounting for a total of at least 55 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions in the world.

Sixty states have joined the Paris Agreement with the share of 48 percent of emissions of greenhouse gases.
