Acting Defense Minister of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan on Saturday visited the armed forces subdivisions located on the southeastern borderline of the republic. The aim of the visit was to get familiarized on the ground with the service carried out and the process of organizing the military watch.

Ohanyan checked the reliability of defense and engineering facilities, as well as the work aimed at improving the reliability of defense positions at the military bases.

The living and hygienic conditions of the soldiers carrying out military watch, as well as the quality and variety of their food, and conditions of keeping them, were also in the center of the Defense Minister’s attention.

On the same day, Ohanyan visited the relatives of Andranik Zohrabyan, an Armenian servicemen who died during the military actions of the four-day April war, being posthumously awarded Order of the Combat Cross of the First Degree.

Thanking for the warm reception and congratulating Andranik’s relatives on the 25th anniversary of the Armenian independence, Seyran Ohanyan expressed his support to the family of the soldier who died for protecting the borders of his homeland, noting that the Ministry is always ready to back them and the relatives of all the other soldiers as much as possible.

During the meeting, which took place in a friendly atmosphere, Andranik’s father, Atom Zohrabyan, recalled memorable episodes related to his son, as well as the precepts he gave Andranik a day before the latter’s joining the army. Zohrabyan also assured that he is ready to join the defenders of the homeland if needed.
