YEREVAN. – President Serzh Sargsyan of the Republic of Armenia (RA) on Tuesday appointed eleven ministers, all at once. Thus, solely the foreign and defense ministers are left to be appointed in order for the new government to be completely formed, according to Zhoghovurd newspaper.

“The main intrigue of the new government is the matter of the prospective owner of these two very portfolios.

“According to information received from the authorities’ circles, the office of the RA Defense Minister may be entrusted to Presidential Chief of Staff Vigen Sargsyan, until the parliamentary elections to be held on April 2, next year.

“[But] it still remains unclear as to whom Serzh Sargsyan is going to entrust the office of Foreign Minister. It will become clear in the next four days as to whether he will give [serving FM] Edward Nalbandian the chance to be in [this] office for another six months, or he will tell him goodbye at this very phase.

“Deadline for the [complete] formation of [the new] government is October 3,” wrote Zhoghovurd.
