YEREVAN. – The appointment of the defense minister and the foreign minister will be made within the prescribed period.

National Assembly Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, who is also spokesperson of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), on Wednesday stated the above-said in Parliament.

He noted that the deadline to form the new government expires next week, and the respective appointments definitely will be made by that time.

Regarding the change in government, Sharmazanov said, however, that a “September revolution” has not occurred in the country.

“All of our citizens, who thought that the new government in Armenia is not the continuation of the old one and [that] the politically accountable for the new government is another, are wrong,” he noted. “This is a September reform, whose start was given back in December [2015], with the constitutional reforms, and on February 12, with the speech of the President of the republic.”

Eduard Sharmazanov added that the RPA is the political master of the government of newly appointed Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan.

He also stated that those who can best implement the government programs are being appointed.
