Azerbaijan’s statement, according to which it plans to purchase the technology to manufacture ballistic missiles, raises strong doubts, Russian political scientist Alexander Khramchikhin told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
“It’s not apparent to me that Azerbaijan has the potential and the cadre to manufacture missiles,” added Khramchikhin. “Huge investments are required for that.”
Nonetheless, the analyst pointed to China as a possible supplier of respective technology.
“And should Azerbaijan wish to buy ready-made products, which will happen much faster, this is also possible,” stated Alexander Khramchikhin. “But the purchased arms will not be better than the [Russian-made] Iskander [long-range ballistic missiles, which Armenia has purchased from Russia].”
