YEREVAN. - The income tax in Armenia will be lowered from still greater number of salaries than before.

Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia, Vakhtang Mirumyan, said the aforementioned Wednesday as he introduced the draft Tax Code for discussion during the second reading.

Responding to the question of Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) MP Mikayel Melkumyan, Mirumyan noted that as compared with the previous legislation, the income tax rate will actually go down for those who receive 279-280,000 AMD salary per month and grow only starting from that benchmark (that is, for only 10 percent of working citizens).

During the first reading, the point of diversion was the 204,000 AMD salary. To put it otherwise, the reduction of tax burden is apparent, especially when comparing these 280,000 with the average salary, which in the period from January to June made up 183,600 AMD (data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia).

“That is, we have reserves to increase the salaries of citizens, but not their tax burden. And in the future we can carry out new changes for this, if needed,” Mirumyan said.
