YEREVAN. - The 67th anniversary of the National Day of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) was marked in Yerevan on Wednesday.

Welcoming the guests, China’s Ambassador to Armenia Jian Erlun said 2016 has become a crucial year for strengthening of relations between China and Armenia which was contributed by mutual visits of the official delegations. The diplomat underlined importance of the status of SCO partner that was granted to Armenia this year.

“Trade and economic relations are developing. During the first seven months of the year, the trade turnover between the countries amounted to $219 million. China remains the second largest trade partner of Armenia,” Ambassador said.

The diplomat also noted the development of humanitarian ties, adding that Armenia successfully hosted the Days of Chinese culture in July 2016.

Next year Armenia and China will celebrate the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, and this date is of particular importance from the point of view of implementation of the agreements reached by the two countries' leaders, he added.

The event was attended by deputy speaker of the Armenian parliament Hermine Naghdalyan, representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia, members of the Cabinet and other guests.
