YEREVAN. – Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) cannot be part of Azerbaijan in any way, and the remaining issues can be discussed during negotiations.

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Artak Zakaryan, who is also Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, noted the abovementioned at a press conference on Friday.

In his words, the Karabakh peace talks have not met an impasse.

“In our [i.e. the Armenian party to this conflict] case, the negotiations are at a well-grounded waiting situation,” added Zakaryan.

The RPA MP stressed that peace talks cannot be conducted in parallel with threats of war. Zakaryan stated that, from the Armenian party’s viewpoint, the negotiation process is not in a deadlock.

“For us the solution is by way of a quick, peaceful settlement,” said Artak Zakaryan. “At present, the negotiations are at a realistic phase, whose task is the restoration of a climate of peaceful settlement.”

US Secretary of State John Kerry had stated that the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan are not ready for a resolution of the Karabakh conflict.
