YEREVAN. - Mortgage loan portfolio in national currency has been rising in Armenia in the recent years.

Head of the Financial System Stability and Development Department of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA), Andranik Grigoryan, said the aforementioned at a press-conference on Friday.

''Overall, the mortgage portfolio in the system grows actively, including in the national currency, where the percentages have fallen in the recent years. This makes us, regulators, happy,'' Grigoryan said.

In 2013, the overall mortgage portfolio of the Armenian banking system made up 135.3 bln AMD, including 65.6 bln in national currency. In July 2016, the overall portfolio amounted to 179.9 bln AMD, including 83.6 bln in national currency (approx. $176.4 mln).
