All Turks can appeal to the European Court of Human Rights, if they believe that their authorities treat them wrong, announced the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland, when asked what action they take to help journalists who are subject to pressure in Turkey, reports the NEWS.am.

" We have been implementing an extensive work with the Turkish authorities directed toward protection of human rights, after the attempted coup.  As you know, there are many cases submitted against Turkey to the ECHR. We should wait and see, what verdicts will be made, " said Jagland, noting that it is important for the Turks to apply to the European Court, if they consider the actions of their authorities wrong.

On July 16, Turkey’s military attempted to carry out a coup in the country, after which there had begun detains and oppression of thousands of soldiers, ordinary citizens, and media representatives.
