YEREVAN. – Judging by the statements of Azerbaijan, it wishes to become a champion in the hodgepodge of arms, military analyst Arkadi Grigoryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He noted this commenting—at our request—on the Azerbaijani side’s constant statements regarding its purchasing of arms from a variety of countries, the latest being Pakistan.

“Actually, before speaking about the arms procurement, Azerbaijan better pay for the already purchased ones,” noted Grigoryan. “Azerbaijan has not yet closed the [respective] debt that has accrued.”

In his words, if Azerbaijan really wants so much to purchase arms from Pakistan, this is possible, but this contains a lot of “buts.”

“If Azerbaijan cannot afford to buy Russian or Israeli arms, the Pakistani ones may be suitable,” added the military analyst. “True, the reliability of Pakistani arms is highly questionable.”
