YEREVAN. – Zhamanak newspaper has learned that the Armenian authorities had wished to convene the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) summit, which was held on October 14 in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, at the Cafesjian Museum, and under the huge Vardanank fresco, where the informal meeting of the leaders of the CSTO countries was held in August 2009, and former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s talk was convened in 2010, with the civil society of Armenia.

“[But] the Russian organizers of the CSTO summit did not like the idea of holding [it] under the Vardanank canvas, and [therefore] it was decided, at the last moment, to organize the narrow- and extended-format meetings of the [CSTO] presidents at the [Armenian] presidential palace, which is unsuitable for such events,” wrote Zhamanak.
