YEREVAN. – Arman Tatoyan, the Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia, initiated a special discussion with Christoph Bierwirth, Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Armenia.

The discussants conferred on UN assistance in connection with Armenians from Syria that are coming to Armenia due to the present-day situation in Syria, especially with respect to ensuring living conditions for them in Armenia, the ombudsman’s office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Bierwirth, expressed readiness to render assistance to these Syrian-Armenian families, but within the framework of the mandate and capacity of the UN Refugee Agency, and noted that relevant work is carried out.
