YEREVAN. – Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan on Tuesday received Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Armenia.

The PM noted that he attaches great importance to the further development of relations with the EU, Press Office of the Government of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. Karapetyan stressed that the Armenian government stands ready to promote cooperation with the EU.

Noting that the fifth phase in the negotiations on  a new framework agreement will be conducted soon, Karen Karapetyan expressed confidence that the parties will manage to maintain the respective positive trend.

The Premier also underscored the EU technical support to the ongoing reforms in Armenia, and the European financial institutions’ engagement in the implementation of infrastructural projects in the country. Karapetyan added that the Armenian government is ready to expand the scope of cooperation with the EU.

Ambassador Świtalski, for his part, informed about the EU assistance to the Armenian government in ensuring the continuity of reforms in the country. He noted that the current Armenia-EU full agenda can provide positive developments, and outline the long-range plans that will be laid down in the new framework agreement.

In addition, he welcomed the Armenian government’s targeted programs toward improving the business climate in the country, and noted that the EU is interested in cooperating with the government, to this end, too. 

At the ensuing talk, the interlocutors reflected on bilateral relations.
