YEREVAN. – An official opening ceremony of Euroclub took place in Yerevan on Tuesday.

Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador Piotr A. Switalski said the concept of Euroclubs was launched in Portugal in 1990.

A number of Euroclubs have been established across Europe and the Eastern Partnership countries.

Mr. Switalski said he is happy to see that young people in Armenia are interested in the idea. He said the fact that this initiative has come to Armenia proves that the Armenian young people have strong European identity, and they are interested in maintaining ties and contacts with the European youth.

‘We believe that through Euroclubs the youth of Armenia, in particular in the regions, will get an additional possibility to learn more about the EU projects in Armenia and will establish links with those projects, as well as with other Euroclubs in general’, - mentioned Ambassador Świtalski, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, during the opening ceremony of the Euroclub in Yerevan

The main goals of Euroclubs in Armenian marzes will be informing and educating young people about the EU and EU–Armenia issues, offering assistance in establishing long term partnerships with European youth NGOs, applying and obtaining EU resources and supporting Armenian youth’s aspirations for strengthening relations with the EU. The Delegation of the European Union decided to launch this project to encompass all the youth from all the marzes of Armenia and to create equal opportunities for them.
