YEREVAN. – The National Assembly of Armenia on Wednesday passed in the first reading—and with a vote of 104 for, 4 against, and one abstention—the package on making amendments to the Electoral Code, and the related laws.

Pursuant to the bill, the lists of those that voted during elections in the country shall be made public, so as to rule out suspicions that the ballots of those who did not vote may have been used.

This draft law also proposes continued video recording and live streaming at all election precincts.

In addition, this bill stipulates a criminal penalty of two to five years of imprisonment for voting in someone else’s stead.

The second reading is expected to be conducted later in the day.
