A 49-year-old man opened fire on four officers, The Independent reported.

A Bavarian interior ministry stated a 49-year-old man opened fire on the officers after they entered his home in Georgensgmünd on Wednesday.

A spokesperson said police were conducting an operation to confiscate legally-owned weapons because of the suspect’s “unreliability”.

He added that the police officers were injured, some seriously. The suspect was slightly injured and arrested.
