Russian Premier Dmitry Medvedev on Wednesday discussed with the Chairman of Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Board Tigran Sargsyan the preparations to the Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

“Soon we will hold the EEU Intergovernmental Council; the preparations are underway now. You and the executive body colleagues deal with this. Where do things stand?” the Premier inquired.

For his part, Sargsyan stressed that the stimulation of integration remains the most pressing issue on the agenda. “We are trying to find additional stimuli, which could fulfill the entire potential and help our countries first of all stimulate domestic market products,” he said, adding that the relevant proposals have been prepared.

Medvedev also noted that the Intergovernmental Council session is always ‘lively, and it is always becomes necessary to discuss the current issues and look for compromises during it.” He also suggested Sargsyan to go through all the directions “to better prepare and hold such a meeting.”

Medvedev will take part in the EEU Intergovernmental Council session, which will be held in Minsk on October 27. The premiers of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan will also attend the session.

The participants will consider a number of key issues on the integration agenda of the EEU. It is also planned to discuss the new draft Customs Code of the EEU, approve the 2017 draft budget of the Union and sign the Protocol on extending the action of the Agreement on implementing pilot project of marking goods by identification marks in 2015-2016. Apart from this, the course of developing the mechanism of control over transportation of goods within the Union’s territory and separate aspects of trade policy, including order of applying anti-dumping measures, as well as issues of EEC’s international activity will be discussed at the session.
