The Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev has had phone conversations with the former President George HW Bush and the former Secretary of State James Baker, during which they agreed to seek to find ways out of the “abnormal status” that has been established between Moscow and Washington. Gorbachev told that the conversation took place on the initiative of Baker. Moreover, all three interlocutors agreed, that the situation in the world today, especially the US and Russia relations, are “particularly alarming.” Bush senior agreed with the Soviet President’s proposal that they “must do everything independent of political veterans to help the two countries to get out of the difficult situation of their relationship.”
