Russia and Georgia are interested in continuing the dialogue on specific issues related to the activation of Russian-Georgia ties.

The aforementioned statement was made during the subsequent working meeting between the State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Grigory Karasin and Georgian Prime Minister’s Special Representative Zurab Abashidze in Prague.

The interlocutors stressed that after the recent parliamentary elections in Russia and Georgia, both sides are interested in continuing the dialogue on specific issues related to the activation of Russian-Georgia ties in the areas where progress is possible in the absence of diplomatic ties, i.e. trade, transport and cultural humanitarian areas.

The meeting between the Russian and Georgian businessmen, which is to be held in Tbilisi in November under the auspices of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of both countries, is expected to contribute to the further strengthening of ties between the two countries.

The sides also referred to the continuing growth of air and road transportations between Russia and Georgia. The work on the visa regime liberalization for Georgian citizens will continue. Specifically, the Russian Government is considering the issue of facilitating the visa regime for crew teams of Georgian airlines.

The sides confirmed the readiness to continue the pragmatic course of further step-by-step normalization of bilateral ties. Karasin and Abashidze agreed to hold another meeting in the beginning of 2017.
