The OSCE Minsk Group members can only be welcomed to indeed play a constructive role in the Karabakh conflict resolution.

Spokeswoman for the Russian MFA Maria Zakahrova said the aforementioned Thursday, responding to the question on the possible activation of Turkey in the OSCE Minsk Group, which deals with the Karabakh conflict resolution.

“As to the changes in and activation of Turkey’s role as an OSCE Minsk Group member, the members of that group are only welcomed to indeed play a constructive role in the [Karabakh conflict] settlement. I think it is their direct task to play a constructive role and do that actively when the issue concerns exactly the constructive contribution to the conflict settlement process,” Zakharova noted.

Asked whether Turkey may become one of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, the Spokeswoman noted that she possessed no information on that. “I have no information on the changes in the OSCE Minsk Group work format. Frankly speaking, I haven’t even heard about holding such discussions. I don’t mean the media outlets, but the experts dealing with that issue.”
