German chancellor Angela Merkel emphasized that she would have preferred stronger language in relation to measures to be taken against Russia amid Moscow’s stance in the Syrian conflict, DW reported.

Commenting on results of the Brussels summit, Merkel said that she was quite satisfied with the initial version of the document with reference to the new restrictive measures against Russia. At the same time she didn't specify who influenced decision not to take tough position but she warned that the issue of sanctions could be brought up again if necessary.

According to her, this may occur in the case of lack of improvements in the humanitarian situation in Syria and, first of all, in Aleppo.

Angela Merkel reminded Germany didn't exclude a possibility of adoption of appropriate measures not only against Syria but also against all those who are playing the role of its allies.
