YEREVAN. – The cuts in the state apparatus of Armenia are only half of the work, and the efficiency of its activities also needs to be increased.

Tigran Jrbashyan, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham), stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Monday.

He noted this commenting on new Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan’s initiative to drastically reduce the expenditures of the state apparatus.

“It’s understandable why they decided to cut spending: the new taxation system doesn’t promise new revenues, whereas spending for serving national debt is increasing,” stressed Jrbashyan. “But simply cutting [expenditures] is not the best means.

“At the same time, productivity of the work needs to be increased, so that it will be possible to provide state services to the same extent, or even more, with a smaller resource.”
