The Union of Armenians of Ukraine (UAU) has not only organized the operation of sports clubs, but it also largely supports the country’s sportsmen.

Renowned Armenian-Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler, Beijing Olympics bronze medalist Armen Vardanyan, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the UAU, said the aforementioned Monday, AnalitikaUA.net reports.

“Every year the best athletes, who achieve significant success in sports, are awarded in the framework of summing up the year. Such attitude of UAU towards sportsmen serves as additional motivation towards their future success on Ukrainian and international platform,” he noted.

Touching on new public initiatives, Vardanyan underscored the importance of such a format of consolidation to compatriots. In this context, the sportsman pointed out to the round table discussion entitled ‘Armenian cultural heritage in Ukraine,’ which was held in October by the activists of the ‘Armenians of Ukraine’ Civil platform and the UAU Committee on Historical and Cultural Affairs. According to him, the event gave an opportunity to learn more opinions from talented compatriots on many Armenian topics.

“Such round table discussions are not only an important platform for discussing joint projects aimed at popularizing Armenian cultural and historical values, but they also give an opportunity to present the country’s Armenian Diaspora its leading figures,” Vardanyan noted.

The UAU attaches special importance to sports and support to Ukraine’s sportsmen. It establishes different sports clubs and awards prizes at different sports events. Children of different nationalities train in the sports clubs of the UAU.
